Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy is sounding the alarm about the epidemic of loneliness in America. "In the last few decades, we've just lived through a dramatic pace of change. We move more, we change jobs more often, we are living with technology that has profoundly changed how we interact with each other and how we talk to each other. And you can feel lonely even if you have a lot of people around you, because loneliness is about the quality of your connections."
America has a loneliness epidemic. Here are 6 steps to address it, NPR, May 2, 2023
Framingham is fortunate to have so many strong, welcoming communities of faith. We hope you'll stop by soon and check one out! Or, make a project of it and try them all!
As people of many faiths serving the various communities of the city of Framingham, the members of the Framingham Interfaith Community Association (FICA) come together with humility and mutuality, to support and encourage each other, to learn from and grow with each other, to have honest conversations together, and to deepen our relationships with each other for the common good of all Framingham.
We respect and value…
the inherent dignity of every human being
the richness of our diverse city, the differences between us, and the commonalities that unite us
the wisdom that each of us has to share
the need we have for each other to build a strong community
our individual responsibility to live out and from our faith
From this shared moral grounding, we go out into the community together, to listen to our neighbors with love and compassion, to offer our presence and our voice in troubled times, and to seek justice and peace for all people, especially the most vulnerable among us.
Framingham Interfaith Community Association (FICA) is a network of clergy and faith-based communities.
